A "best-of" collection of Cruise rumors

Here is another article about the Andrew Morton penned unauthorized biography of Tom Cruise. I'm actually amazed that so many journalists are outraged over the book given the media's history of loving rumor and gossip. Perhaps there is hope for our civilization after all :)

In this article Courtney Hazlett of MSNBC describes it as:
"At best, Morton’s book is a best-of collection of Cruise rumors, most of which (if not all) have been refuted time and again. At worst, the book appears to be a personal attack on Cruise and his family."

The article paints a rather uncomplimentary picture of Andrew Morton and his journalistic abilities, saying Morton "has also written a number of dubiously sourced biographies" and that he "never spoke to Cruise’s business partners, directors, studio executives, friends or family, and the list can go on.

One of the most damning quotes:
“The guy is a liar,” says one source who is very familiar with Morton’s writing process. “It’s shocking what little legitimacy any of his work has.”

That's exactly what I was talking about in my post on the Tom Cruise "bio". It never ceases to amaze me how much the media latches on to concoctions and rumours.

It's hilarious to see how easy is to brainwash people. Apparently someone has been busy inventing nonsenses about Tom Cruise and throwing them to the press people for years and it's Andrew Morton's turn now - the man just invented a Tom Cruise biography which is to say a lie-ography. The funniest thing of this all is that the media believe the lies and publish them and part of the public fall in the trap too. I wonder who is crazy here... We have seen so many lies published about Tom Cruise in the last couple of years like the placenta story and that Suri didn't exist that I wonder how some people can still believe those crazy stories... What's next? That Katie Holmes is actually the daughter of Snow White? Or that Tom Cruise was made of wood and then became human like Pinocchio? Any media reporting those lies should be ashamed. And the people believing them should seriously worry about their mental health.

Hey Joxe,

Luckily not all the media have been fooled. It seems some of them see what damage such garbage does to their profession and, who knows, perhaps they realize that such abuse of freedom of speech actually threatens freedom of speech. Here are some examples of media who understand:
